With its seed in the Summit League tournament locked up, the women's basketball team is searching for the right momentum to make a championship run.
The Jacks continued that pursuit on Feb. 27, staving off a depleted IUPUI (3-25, 2-15) squad for their 13th conference win 77-55 in front of 3,418 fans at Frost Arena.
Though the margin of defeat was 22, the Jacks played flat at times against an IUPUI squad that has had three players - all key contributors - quit the team in the past year. SDSU shot just 39 percent from the floor and allowed IUPUI to shoot 45 percent, well above their season average.
"If we go into the tournament the way we did tonight, we'll probably be heading home a little early; we realize that," said SDSU junior Kristin Rotert.
Rotert finished with 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting alongside Maria Boever, who also finished with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Junior Jennifer Schuttloffel, who started in place of Jennie Sunnarborg, finished with four points, nine rebounds and three steals in her first career start.
