Elitists, Marxists want socialized medicine
Ian Odle
Issue date: 11/4/09 Section: Opinion & Editorial
Today I am going to talk to you about the health care debate, and what you might not know about why some people are trying so hard to get socialized medicine. The first thing that people must understand is that the current issue of health care reform is not about health care or insurance for poor people, it is about CONTROL. There are easier ways of reforming health care without socialized medicine, but that is not the issue I want to talk about today. The issue is the power and control that the federal government would have over your very LIFE with the current form of socialized medicine they are trying to pass.
Just think about it, the government already controls the education system; they decide what people can learn and who gets the degrees. The government has also greatly expanded its power in the private sector with bailouts, and the proposed cap and tax legislation would increase it even more. Now the feds wants to take over health care. I am surprised at how many people simply do not realize that if the current bill, (that no one has read) is passed the government will have "cradle to grave" control over everyone in the United States. That sounds like tyranny to me.
It is appalling how the pro-socialized health care elitists like Nancy Pelosi regard the Constitution. Recently a reporter asked Pelosi where the Constitution grants the Legislature the authority to create government-run health care or tax people that choose to have no health care. She replied, "Are you kidding?" My question is has Pelosi ever read the Constitution or does she plan on doing what she wants regardless of her oath to uphold the Constitution. I don't know if any of you have read the Constitution, but you will not find national health care in the enumerated powers of the legislature in Article I, and the "general welfare" clause of the preamble and Article I, Section 8 and the "necessary and proper" clause also found in Article I, Section 8. These do not give the federal government the authority to create national health care.
Another point that needs to be brought up is the timetable involved. The liberals are so worried that the bill won't get passed in time. The bill would not take effect for a couple of years at the earliest. What is the rush?
Well, the rush is the FACTS, the more the American people learn about the agenda of the radical Marxists in Washington the less they will support socialized medicine. That is why the bill is being slammed down our throats so that it is passed before the people get to read it and see all the flaws and agendas. It is time for people to make their voices heard and declare where they stand. Do you stand for liberty and freedom, or tyranny and oppression? I say DON'T TREAD ON ME.

I am really disappointed that I wasted five minutes of my life reading this.
It actually sounds like a transcript of a Fox News show. It's disappointing that you use so much of the opposition rhetoric, that you look like you haven't thought this issue through. (Continued…)

I am not going to support or attack Mr. Odle's position, but he needs to quit throwing the word Marxist around so loose and liberally. Socialism is one thing; the Marxist theory is a form of socialism but nothing close to what is going on right now. (Continued…)

Well, I currently live in a country where there is a National Health Service. I find the medical care to be incredibly good: frequently same day treatment, without needing to go to the ER, house calls for sick children, free contraception and prescriptions. (Continued…)

I'm going to disagree with HL and thank the Collegian for publishing this op-ed piece. It's important to have access to all sides of an important issue like health care. (Continued…)

There are differences between Marxism, socialism, communism, and all the other anti-freedom ideologies, but the goal of all of them is world utopia. The similarity between the ideologies is how they have practiced in reality. (Continued…)

That whole post is simplistic & ignorant. Freedom is a subjective word. Saying that anything you don't agree with (e.g. how other industrialized & democratic nations are run) is "anti-freedom" is displaying the intellectual capacity of a child. (Continued…)

I am just wondering how the author knows what the bill says and what it will do because no one has read it. If no one has read, that means the author has not read it, nor anyone that the author has used as a reference source. (Continued…)

Do you, Mr. Odle, support our current health care system? Or do you think changes are needed? If you think reform is necessary, what reforms do you support? Please support your proposals, if any, with some sort of evidence. (Continued…)

The only thing that would amaze me more than a Marxist conspiracy taking over the government is Mr. Odle managing to get a degree.
