Jacks believe experience and location are key to success in Summit League Tournament.

March 6 through 9 may be busy for 34,681 people. That crowd - which broke the attendance record for the Summit League Tournament by more than 6,000 people - has the opportunity to witness a do-or-die battle for the NCAA Tournament once again. In comparison, 2009 and 2010 appear to be remarkably different tournaments.

SDSU men to face IPFW in first tournament game

Both teams seem evenly matched for the meetup, and expectations are high.

Expectations are higher for the SDSU men's basketball team heading into the 2010 Summit League Tournament than they were at this time last year. The No.4 Jacks (14-15, 10-8) take on No. 5 IPFW (15-14, 9-9) on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena in the first round of the conference tournament.

Hockey team to compete for national championship

Women plan on reaching season goal by winning a national tournament this weekend.

On the weekend of March 5-7, Blaine, Minn., is hosting the American Collegiate Hockey Association Women's National Tournament, where the SDSU women's hockey team will be competing for a championship. SDSU was chosen as one of six teams to compete in the Division II portion of the tournament by a committee made up of coaches across the country.

Jared Vlastuin and Jake Brinkmann made history at the Summit League Championships in Fargo, ND on Feb. 28 to March 1. On day one, Vlastuin won the long jump event, the first individual title by a Jackrabbit at the Championships. His jump was 23 feet, 4.75 inches.

Seniors end career 54-4 at Frost

With the Jacks compiling a 53-4 home record the last four seasons, a lopsided win in their last regular season game seemed fitting. And lopsided it was. The Jacks (19-10, 14-4) made a season-high 15 3s and tied a season high for total points in a 93-47 win over Western Illinois at Frost Arena on March 1.

With its seed in the Summit League tournament locked up, the women's basketball team is searching for the right momentum to make a championship run. The Jacks continued that pursuit on Feb. 27, staving off a depleted IUPUI (3-25, 2-15) squad for their 13th conference win 77-55 in front of 3,418 fans at Frost Arena.

Seniors honored at IUPUI game

A season-best home crowd of 4,923 saw IUPUI defeat SDSU 86-76 on Feb. 27 on senior night in the final tune-up before the Summit League Tournament. The Jacks started slow out of the gates, making only two shots the first seven minutes. Despite the slow start, the Jacks were only down four at halftime.

Sargent eclipses 1,000 point mark

Junior Clint Sargent became the 41st member of the SDSU 1,000-point club, as SDSU defeated Western Illinois 66-53 in Summit League action on Feb. 25. "I would like to thank my teammates and coaches through the whole experience I've had my three years here," Sargent said.
